Fire Safety System for wood shavings dryer

As wood shavings is rather thin, especially in high temperature drying process, there is fire risk. Then, Fire Safety System for wood shavings dryer  will be necessary.

Wood Shavings Dryer also is called as rotary wood chips drier, and it is mainly for drying light biomass materials such as wood shavings, wood chips, sawdust, grass, alfalfa, etc.

For the wood shavings dryer, the burner and hot air furnace creates the high temperature flue gas for the drying process. Then, the related fuel choice will be very important.

If to use fosile fuel such as LPG, Natural  Gas, Diesel as fuel, then the related burner working toegether with hot air furnace, not only the heat output is stable, but also it will be rather safe, and there will not be the fire safety issues.

If to use waste wood, or biomass pellets etc as fuel, and let the high temperature flue gas goes into the wood shavings dryer to heat and contact the wood shavings, then there is possiblity that some fire sparks mixed with hot flue gas, and goes into the dryer cyclinder.  What is more, if some of the wood shavings is stuck near the inlet end of the dryer, and can not move away smoothly, then its temperature will rise quickly, in such situation, it may cause fire inside the dryer machine.

Sunco Machinery designed one new type hot air furnace for the wood shavings dryer. Please see the picture as below. Inside the hot air furnace, there is special combustion room and Ash collecting Room. After the high temperature air goes through the ash collecting room, it is nearly pure high temperature air without spark.

As at the feed inlet end of the wood shavings dryer, the hot air is in high temperature, and once the wet wood shavings contact the high temperature air, it will generate many water vapor.  In this case, as there is many water vapor, even there is some spark going into the wood shavings dryer, it will never generate fire inside the wood shavings dryer.

In order to avoid fire during the wood shavings drying process:

>>> Select the suitable fuel.

>>> Adopts reasonable designed hot air furnace, and make sure the full fuel burning efficiency, and reduce the sparks as much as possible.

>>> Wood Shavings dryer should be designed according to the features of biomass material specially, and make sure that the wood shavings can pass through the dryer drum smoothly, and avoid the material stuck problems.

>>> In operation, the operators should operate the wood shavings drying line carefully, and pay sufficent attention to working condition of the drying system.
