The water quenching treatment of blast furnace slag is to place the hot-melt blast furnace slag in water for rapid cooling, limit its crystallization and granulation. At present, there are two commonly used water quenching methods: slag pool water quenching and furnace front water quenching.

① Slag pool in front of furnace. For some small blast furnaces in China, a tank is built next to the blast furnace. After the water slag is precipitated in the slag tank, it is grabbed out with an electric hoist, and the water supply is generally no longer recycled. Compared with water quenching in slag pond, this method has the advantage of canceling the transportation of slag tank; The disadvantage is that a large amount of harmful gas is generated in the tank, which pollutes the environment and affects the surrounding equipment and operation.

Usually the wet slag firstly is to be crushed into smaller size, then use the rotary slag dryerto heat and dry it to produce dry slag, after that to grind the dry slag into fine powder, then finally use it to produce cement.
