Rotary Dryer Machine for Blast furnace slag

After being dried and grinded, the blast furnace slag powder is widely used for the production of portland cement, and its economic benefit is good.  Before to grind the slag into powder, firstly needs to use rotary slag dryer machine to get rid the water and reduce its moisture content to be less than 3% or even low.

Before the application of blast furnace slag, it needs to be processed properly in advance. For different applications, the related processing methods also is different. In China, blast furnace slag is usually processed into water slag.

The water quenching treatment of blast furnace slag is to place the hot-melt blast furnace slag in water for rapid cooling, limit its crystallization and granulation. At present, there are two commonly used water quenching methods: slag pool water quenching and furnace front water quenching.

(1) Slag pool water quenching slag pool water quenching is to pull the slag to a place far away from the blast furnace with a slag tank and pour it directly into the water pool. The slag will be rapidly cooled into water slag after encountering water. After water quenching, grab it with a crane and place it in the storage yard for loading and transportation. The advantage of this method is to save water, and the main disadvantage is that it is easy to produce a large amount of residue cotton and hydrogen sulfide gas, polluting the environment.

(2) Water quenching in front of furnace water quenching in front of furnace is to use high-pressure water to quench blast furnace slag into granules in the slag flushing ditch in front of furnace and transport it to the sediment pool to form water slag. According to different filtration methods, it can be divided into slag pool in front of furnace, hydraulic conveying slag pool, stirring tank pumping method, etc.

① Slag pool in front of furnace. For some small blast furnaces in China, a tank is built next to the blast furnace. After the water slag is precipitated in the slag tank, it is grabbed out with an electric hoist, and the water supply is generally no longer recycled. Compared with water quenching in slag pond, this method has the advantage of canceling the transportation of slag tank; The disadvantage is that a large amount of harmful gas is generated in the tank, which pollutes the environment and affects the surrounding equipment and operation.

The initial moisture content of wet slag is about 15%-20%, and some slag is lump shape with bigger size.  Usually, firstly use crusher to crush the slag into smaller granules, then feed it the wet slag into rotary slag dryer machine, after the drying process, the moisture content of slag is reduced to be less than 3% or bone dry, finally to grind the dried slag into powder, and to be used to produce portland cement.
