Wood chip is highly applicable in wood chip furnaces, boilers and automatic stokerspower plant, etc. But before use it as biomass fuel, the wet wood chips needs to be dried and its humidity needs to be reduced so that when burning the wood chip can generate more heat.
To classifies the size of the wood chip. G30 and G50 is a fine-grade wood chip to be used in smaller furnaces such as automatic stokers whereas G100 is a large-scale wood chip for power plants.
Size classification - G30 Wood Chips:
< 4 % of particles: < 1 mm
< 20 % of particles: 1 - 3 mm
60 – 100 % of particles: 3 - 16 mm
< 20 % of particles: > 16 mm
Size classification – G50 Wood Chips :
< 4 % of particles: < 1 mm
< 20 % of particles: 1 – 6 mm
60 – 100 % of particles: 6 - 32 mm
< 20 % of particles: > 32 mm
Size classification – G100 Wood Chips:
< 4 % of particles: < 1 mm
< 20 % of particles: 1 - 11 mm
60 – 100 % of particles: 11 - 63 mm
< 20 % of particles: > 63 mm
By drying wood chip to get rid of some water from the wet wood chip, and reduce its moisture content to the needed humidity such as 20% and to be used as biomass fuel for boiler, power plant, etc.
